The Explorer Pass is perfect for tourists, visitors, and anyone looking for a long or leisurely ride.
For just $10, you'll get 24 hours of access to Blue Bikes and you can keep a bike out for up to 2 hours at a time. If you're enjoying a long ride and want to keep a bike out longer than 2 hours at a time, it's only an extra $2.50 per additional 30 minutes.
With Blue Bikes, you can take a bike out from any station within the system and return it to any other. So you can take a one-way trip or stop to explore on foot without having to worry about locking up a rental bike. With over 1,800 bikes across Boston, Cambridge, Brookline and Somerville, Blue Bikes is the most convenient (and fun!) way to get around.
How to buy a pass:
The easiest way to purchase an Explorer Pass is through the Blue Bikes mobile app. See the instructions for purchasing a pass and unlocking a bike with your smartphone.
If you don't have a smartphone, you can also buy a pass at any station kiosk. See the step-by-step instructions to buy a pass, unlock a bike, and return a bike.
Please Note: If you incur any usage fees while riding Blue Bikes (e.g., if you keep your bike out for longer than 2 hours at a time), your card on file will be charged. The fee for a lost or stolen bike is $1,200.
